Think about it, when was the last time you truly took a break? Not the "I’ll just rest for five minutes" kind, but the real rest—where you disconnect, breathe, and focus on yourself.
This stage of our life can be a lot sometimes. We’re out here hustling, solving one problem after another, trying to meet deadlines and before you know it, we forget the one person who matters most—ourselves.
But today? It’s World Mental Health Day, and I’m here to remind you, YOU FIRST.
See ehn, this life no balance and if you don’t take time to breathe, nobody will do it for you. You can’t come and go and kill yourself abeg.
Let today be that day you pause and check in with yourself. How are you, really? What do you need? It’s okay to take a step back and say, "I need a break." The world will adjust.
Forget the hustle culture for a minute. No be who run fast go later win race. This life na marathon, not a sprint and if you don’t take time to rest and recharge, body go tell you.
As we all know “body no be firewood”. You’ll start feeling burnout, overwhelmed and emotionally drained. That’s your mind telling you it needs a break.
Let today be the day you choose You. Close your laptop, ignore that email for a few hours and take a nap if you need to.
Talk to someone, cry if you must, read a book , watch a movie, take a stroll, gift yourself something nice or just sit quietly and be present with yourself.
There’s nothing weak about admitting you need rest. In fact, it’s a big flex to say, “I’m putting my mental health first and the world will adjust.”
You can’t pour from an empty cup. You deserve peace of mind, balance, and joy. So, take care of you first—the rest of the world can wait.
