Hiiii Guyss,
I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately and I know I’m not the only one who needs to hear it.
If you’ve been overthinking, overworking, or just feeling like you're never doing enough... this one's for you.
Come closer, let’s talk. We really need to.
Are you truly a perfectionist… or are you just scared of being seen as average?
Are you obsessed with excellence or do you just feel like if it’s not perfect, then you’re not enough?
I know this is you:
You rewrite captions 10 times before posting.
You delete emails because “they don’t sound professional enough.”
You spend hours on a design only to scrap it completely because it “wasn’t giving.”
You don’t rest. Because how can you rest when there's always one more thing to fix?
You punish yourself for being human.
But the real question is:
Are you actually striving for excellence or are you just trying to outrun shame?
Let that sink in.
This “perfectionism” we carry like a badge of honor… it’s often just a pretty name we slap on fear, burnout, and control.
We don’t want to fail.
We don’t want to be judged.
We don’t want to look lazy or unserious.
So we hide behind the idea of “I’m just a perfectionist.”
But perfectionism doesn’t always come from high standards. Sometimes it comes from deep insecurity.
Some of us learned from a young age that love, praise or peace only came when we did everything right.
So now we overwork, we overthink and we overstretch.
We micromanage our lives until there’s nothing left but anxiety.
And guess what?
You still don’t feel good enough.
Because perfectionism isn’t a destination, it’s a trap.
It says, “Once it’s perfect, you can rest.”
But it’s never perfect.
So you never rest.
You lie in bed thinking about the things you didn’t do.
The post you should’ve written better.
The opportunity you might have ruined by sounding too casual.
The life you’re supposedly “wasting” because you didn’t do enough today.
You tell people you’re a perfectionist.
But honestly?
You’re just exhausted.
You’re carrying too much.
You’re tired of chasing approval through achievement.
And somewhere deep down, you just want to feel like you’re enough even when things are unfinished, unpolished, undone.
So I’ll ask again:
Are you truly a perfectionist?
Or are you just afraid of failing in a world that makes you feel like failure equals worthlessness?
Because perfection doesn’t make you lovable.
You already are.
I hope this met you in a good place and if it didn’t, I hope it made space for you to rest. Your worth isn’t tied to what you do, fix, or perfect. You're allowed to breathe. To rest. To just be. Zero pressure.
You don’t have to earn rest. You just need it.
See you next timee,
Ama 🤍
“Perfection doesn’t make you lovable. You already are”... I think I'll stick to this, Thank you for this piece 😁
